Syria’s official news agency SANA and state-owned Al-Ikhbariya TV reported Tuesday that Israel attacked several targets in the country’s south.

The attacks reportedly targeted Tel al-Hara in Daraa province, south of Damascus, and two areas in the neighboring province of Quneitra. The reports said the strikes only caused material damage and did not inflict any casualties.

Tel al-Hara is a strategically located area in the southern Daraa province overlooking the Israeli Golan Heights. It was for many years a major Russian military radar outpost until rebels took it over in 2014 before it was again recaptured by the Syrian army last year.

According to Reuters, Western intelligence sources have said the area is home to several Iranian-backed militias.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the targets hit were Syrian army positions and those of forces and militias loyal to the Syrian army, including “non-Syrian nationalities.” It also reported that Syrian air defenses had been activated to counter the attack.
