Lithuania recently received its first two Boxer infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) equipped with a remote weapon station and spike missiles by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, according to a report by Jane’s.

ARTEC, a joint venture between KMW and Rheinmetall, is producing the IFVs according to the requirements of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, with Orbital ATK Armament Systems’ MK44 30mm cannons and Spike LR anti-tank missiles installed in Rafael Samson Mk II remote weapon stations.

Lithuania signed a $435 million contract with ARTEC and the Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) in 2016 for 89 IFVs. The vehicles will replace the Lithuanian Army’s M113s.

The Lithuanian MoD said 15 vehicles, designated as Vilkas (“Wolf”), would be delivered to Lithuania in 2019 and the rest would be delivered by the end of 2021.
