Trump Nominates New NATO Commander

President Trump has chosen Air Force Gen. Tod Wolters to become the Supreme NATO Commander and US European Commander.
Pending Senate confirmation, Wolters will replace Army Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, who has held the position in 2016.
The North Atlantic Council has also agreed to appoint Wolters as Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, according to a statement issued by NATO.
Gen. Wolters is currently serving as Commander, United States Air Forces Europe; Commander, United States Air Forces Africa; Commander, Allied Air Command; and Director, Joint Air Power Competence Centre.
Wolters has flown more than 5,000 hours in the F-15 Eagle, F-22 Raptor, OV-10 Bronco, T-38 Talon, and A-10 Warthog aircraft. He fought in Desert Storm, the Iraq War, and Afghanistan, where he also was deputy commander of political-military affairs.
