The Israel Ministry of Defense has recently purchased Tamir interceptors for the IDF’s Iron Dome air defense systems for an estimated cost of about one billion NIS (approx. $278 million), IsraelDefense has learned.

The ministry did not reveal any details about the acquisition.

“Israel’s missile defense program is managed according to a pre-planned, multi-year development program. As a rule, the ministry does not comment on matters of acquisitions and rearmament,” the MoD said in response to IsraelDefense’s inquiries.

The Tamir interceptors are manufactured jointly by Israel’s Rafael and the US Raytheon Company.
