Brazil acquired two Heron 1 UAVs from IAI in 2010. They were under-utilized due to budget constraints and other issues until their operations reportedly stopped in 2016.
With a more regular operation of the Heron 1, Brazil will significantly increase the ability to conduct intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions along its borders, mainly those in the Amazonian region.
