The Estonian Defense Forces will likely purchase Spike-LR, Spike-LR2 or Spike-ER missiles, provided that the offer by EuroSpike is deemed consistent with the terms of the procurement of a long-range antitank system, according to a report by Army Recognition.

Priit Soosaar, head of the Procurement Department at the ECDI, said that the weapons to be acquired must be in serial production and in use in the armed forces of at least one NATO member state. Also, the system must have a range of at least 4,000m. All three variant meet this criterion, as the Spike-LR and Spike-LR2 have a range of up to 4km and 5.5km, respectively, and the Spike-ER can reach up to 8km.

Estonia plans to purchase at least 18 weapons systems, including ammunition, auxiliary equipment, training, and technical support.

EuroSpike belongs to German arms manufacturers Diehl BGT Defence and Rheinmetall Defence Electronics in equal portions of 40%. Twenty percent of the shares belong to the Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, developer of the Spike family, via the Dutch holding company ERCAS B.V.
