Lebanon Orders New Attack Helicopters

MD Helicopters will supply the Lebanese Air Force with six MD 530G Scout attack helicopters. Weaponry includes 0.50 caliber gun pods and rocket pods that can be armed with laser-guided rockets

The Lebanese Air Force ordered six MD 530G Scout attack helicopters from MD Helicopters. The order includes initial logistics support, ground support equipment, and associated services.

The MD 530G, the latest version of the family, features, among other things, advanced avionics, mission management and weapons management systems, and multi-channel airborne networking radios with advanced encryption.

AINonline reports that the cockpit is protected against ballistic threats of up to 7.62 mm caliber. Weaponry includes 0.50 caliber gun pods and rocket pods that can be armed with laser-guided rockets. MD Helicopters also received orders for other versions of this family from Kenya, Malaysia, and Afghanistan.
