Mauritius Acquired Maritime Patrol Aircraft with IAI Radar

The Mauritius Coast Guard Maritime Air Squadron (MAS) has acquired 7.62 mm machine gun pods for its HAL Do-228 maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), according to Jane's.

The newest of the three Do-228s in service with Mauritius was built by India’s HAL and carries an EL/M-2022A surveillance radar by ELTA Systems.

According to DefenceWeb, the aircraft was ordered in November 2014 and delivered to Mauritius in July 2016. “The total cost of the 10 FIBs (Fast Interceptor Boats), two fast attack craft and the Do-228 was $27 million, which was paid through a loan facility advanced to the government of Mauritius by the Export-Import Bank of India.”
