According to a report by esut.de, the Bundeswehr is looking to buy 3,100 anti-tank missiles for its Special Forces, and the contenders for the tender are MBDA and Rafael via EuroSpike.
The report says that the Bundeswehr launched the "Leichtes Wirkmittel 1800+" initiative with the aim of providing the German Special Forces with fire supremacy in armed conflicts and peacekeeping operations in symmetrical and asymmetric scenarios worldwide.
The tender requires that the missile will have a range of more than 1,800 meters, capable of operating in all weather conditions, day or night. Rafael is offering its Spike SR missile that has a range of 1.5 km, and MBDA is offering the Enforcer, reportedly capable of reaching targets up to two kilometers away.
