The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is approaching retirement of its Victory-class corvettes, which will reach the end of their operational life by 2025. Looking ahead, the service is relying on two new classes of surface vessels as well as the Type 218SG submarine.

In the context of surface vessels, the RSN will reportedly introduce the Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV), a mission-configurable warship, “after 2020.”

While no formal specification has been released so far, Monch reports that the vessel is intended to play ‘mothership’ host to at least three UAVs (nominally the Boeing/Insitu ScanEagle) and two USVs (Rafael’s Protector).
