“Erdogan speaks like a true enemy, but let me remind you that he once received information from Israel that helped prevent an ISIS attack [in Turkey],” Israel’s Intelligence Minister Israel Katz said today in his address at the Fire, Maneuvering & Intelligence Conference, referring to Erdogan's accusations against Israel's actions to put down the violent demonstrators along the Gaza border fence.

Minister Katz elaborated on the importance of intelligence in Israel’s security concept, stressing that “Intelligence contributes to every element of our national [security] concept: warning, deterrence, decision, defense.” He also said that the seizure of the Iranian nuclear documents had reinforced Israel’s claims regarding Iran's deceitful conduct surrounding its nuclear program. “The intelligence picture has so far significantly disrupted the process of Iranian entrenchment in Syria. Intelligence enables us to warn, prevent and respond accurately. It allows us to conduct surgical strikes.”

Katz emphasized that “Israel’s biggest challenge is to preserve its intelligence superiority by utilizing various measures like technology, excellence-driven education, and recruitment of professional human capital. Military units like 8200 and other less known technological units serve as incubators for the Israeli high-tech industry. They are a seedbed of excellence that makes Israel an intelligence powerhouse.”
