Report: Elbit Systems to Upgrade M113 APCs for Philippine Army

The armored personnel carriers will be equipped with 12.7mm machine guns in remote controlled weapons stations (RCWS)

According to MaxDefense Philippines, Elbit Systems' Land and C4I Division will upgrade a new batch of M113 tracked armored personnel carriers for the Philippine Army. The award is expected to be granted within the next few weeks, while the final contract could be signed before the end of this year, the report adds. 

Under the Revised AFP Modernization Program RA 10349, the M113A2 APCs will be fitted with remote controlled weapons Stations (RCWS) designed by Elbit Systems.

According to the report, "Elbit Systems will convert 44 of the 114 standard M113A2s received from the US into platforms armed with a 12.7mm machine guns in Remote Controlled Weapons Stations (RCWS) similar to those already delivered by Elbit lately, and 5 will be converted into Armored Mortar Carriers armed with a Soltam Cardom 120mm mortar."

In 2015, the Armed Forces of the Philippines received 114 M113 tracked APCs from the United States. Elbit System upgraded 28 of them with 25mm unmanned turrets, 12.7mm remote controlled weapon stations (RCWS), and fire control systems (FCS) for 90mm turrets.
