Delek Wins IMOD Tender
The Israeli fuel company Delek Israel has been chosen to provide refueling services to the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the IDF over the course of the next three years. The deal is estimated at 120 million NIS (approx. $33.5 million).
The Israeli Ministry of Defense does not procure the fuel in Israel, but rather exports fuel from the US through the use of US monetary support. The fuel is transferred to the company awarded the tender, which distributes petrol and diesel fuel via civilian gas stations distributed across the country and via the distribution of fuel tankers for various IDF bases.
Delek Israel beat other Israeli fuel companies, Paz, Sonol and Dor Alon, at the end of a tender process that lasted several months and was overseen by the Acquisition Administration of the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The tender is for a three year period, and includes an option for extending the period by an additional two years.
According to Shmuel Zucker, head of the Acquisition Administration, "the new tender will save the defense establishment millions of NIS per year, and it is part of of the administration's policy for managing tenders at the highest possible standards. All of the companies were required to meet strict conditions to ensure optimal operation of IDF units and the Ministry of Defense, in both routine and emergency situations."
