In 2014, the Honduran Air Force acquired three Israeli radars, made by IAI's Elta factory. Their installation was completed last January, as reported in Infodefensa website.
According to the report, this is an approximately 30 million dollars contract. According to Honduran army chief of staff, Francisco Alvarez Urbina Isaiah, the radar will be used to fight drug smuggling and it is now in an implementation process.
"Planes loaded with drugs coming from South America and landing in Honduras now have to look for new routes because Israeli experts have installed a powerful radar system in several strategic points of the country," said Alvarez.
