At the Ben Gurion Airport, final preparations are made for the entry into service of the new inspection system HBS – the world’s most advanced system of automatic inspection.

During February and March trials of the system have been made. Yesterday (March 2nd) at Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion, a “live” experiment was conducted which examined the hold luggage (suitcases) on commercial flights departing from Ben Gurion Airport using the new system. The tests are performed by professionals of the executive company and operation and security personnel of Ben Gurion Airport. The activation and integration of the system is done without harming the service provided to the public and the loading of the baggage on the plane, with full coordination with the airlines.

Last week, a test was conducted to examine the functioning of the system on international flights departing from the airport. The interoperability of the conveyance and sorting systems was tested, including its ability to handle a load. The Israeli Airport Authority has reported that the lessons learned from testing the preparedness of the system in the months of June, December, January, and throughout the entire month of February have been implemented and treated, and now the system is being tested again.

The series of tests lead all operational systems for the transition to full operation in March. The HBS system is a unique advanced innovative technology for security checks of passenger baggage, with the highest security and service levels, built in parallel and using the core systems of the Ben Gurion Airport.
