Russia and Qatar are holding talks on possible delivery of Sukhoi-35 fighter jets to the Qatari Air Force. According to TASS, the talks were confirmed by Vladimir Kozhin, the Russian President’s aide for cooperation in defense technologies.

On January 25, Qatar’s Ambassador to Russia Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah told TASS that Doha was holding "advanced negotiations" with Moscow over the purchase of S-400 missile defense systems.

Defense World reports that since the start of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) blockade against Qatar in June, Doha has upgraded its military capabilities to defend itself against what it perceives as aggressive actions from Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The Qatari Defense Ministry had also signed a landmark military technology sharing agreement with Moscow in October last year, the report added.
