Palmachim Airbase Expansion Nears Completion

The IDF, assisted by the US Army Corps of Engineers Europe District, is working on expanding Palmachim Air Force Base. In part, the project probably aims at supporting the expansion of the IAF's UAV squadrons

Satellite images reveal that the construction works at Palmachim airbase in central Israel are nearing completion (source: border9999). The project is funded by the United States, through the budget of the US Army Corps of Engineers Europe District.

The expansion of the airbase was first reported by Jeremy Binnie in October 2017. Since several UAV squadrons are operating from Palmachim, the expansion of the airbase is presumably related to the expansion of the IAF's UAV fleet.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said, "Infrastructure works are carried out within the airbase to support the operational needs of the IDF."
