Israel-based DSIT Solutions and Tata Power SED are set to deliver 78 units of the PointShield portable diver detection sonar (PDDS) to the Indian Navy.

The procurement initiative will see some of the sonars supplied directly by DSIT, while the remaining units will be developed by Tata Power SED in India under DSIT’s supervision and support.

"We see this order as an important vote of confidence in our superior technology by the Indian Navy choosing us to protect their fleet against underwater threats," said DSIT Solutions CEO Benny Sela. "We look forward to working closely with Tata Power SED and deliver to the Indian Navy high quality and performance systems."

The two companies were selected by the Indian Ministry of Defense following a tender process that involved series of sea trials, technical evaluations, and commercial bidding.

The DSIT’s AquaShield and PointShield systems are currently used by several customers worldwide. The systems are designed to support the automatic detection, tracking, and classification of all types of underwater threats.
