Israel Defense has learned that the head of the Israeli national CERT, Alberto (Deto) Hasson, is stepping down. The reason for the resignation apparently lies in the fact that Hasson was required to change his formal status and become a state employee.

Hasson was appointed as Head of the National CERT in January 2016. He previously served various operational and technological positions within the Israel Security Agency (ISA).

Yigal Unna, the Director-General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate, will now have to decide whether to issue a tender for the position, in light of the demand that the replacement will be a state employee.

No official comment was given by the PMO.
