In October 2015, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot decided to establish a Commando Brigade. Today, Eizenkot authorized the establishment the commando training school, which will train fighters from the Egoz, Maglan, Duvdevan, and Rimon units for commando operations.

The IDF Spokesperson's Office stated that Lt. Col. A. was appointed the commander of the training school. He will be tasked with establishing the school and building a training program for commandos in 2018.

The IDF's commando fighters will continue to undergo basic training and advanced training at the training bases of regular infantry brigades. The rest of their training will be carried out within the framework of the commando school, which is expected to open in 2019.
