The Israeli Air Force intercepted what it believes to be an Iranian-built drone, sent by Hezbollah, that attempted to cross into Israeli airspace on Tuesday, the IDF announced on Tuesday.

The military said it intercepted the incoming unmanned aerial vehicle, but was still verifying details of the incident. Two fighter jets were also scrambled to the border area but did not open fire.

An army spokesperson also said it was unclear if the drone succeeded in breaching Israeli airspace or had only been approaching it.

In a statement, the IDF said it "will not allow any infiltration or approach toward the Golan Heights area by terrorist figures from Iran, Hezbollah, Shiite militias or international jihad. We will respond to any such activity sharply and clearly, and we will work to prevent any attempt like it."
