Waterfall Security Solutions, a company specializing in cybersecurity technologies for critical infrastructure and industrial control systems, announced the successful deployment of its Unidirectional Security Gateway together with IBM‘s QRadar Security Intelligence solution at the Dorad Energy power plant.

Dorad is an independent power producer serving end users throughout Israel, fueled primarily by natural gas. Roni Moran, Chief Information Officer of Dorad Energy, said, "Installing the IBM System QRadar provides us with insightful visibility into network security incidents that are critical to our power plant’s operations. Deploying this solution, together with Waterfall’s Unidirectional Gateway, augmented our protection by eliminating threats of remote cyberattacks from entering our SCADA system, and potentially causing serious damage to the electric grid. Our multi-fold approach keeps our end users’ safety uppermost in mind."

The IBM QRadar SIEM Security Intelligence and Sense Analytics products protect assets and information from advanced threats by consolidating log events and network flow data from thousands of devices, endpoints and applications distributed throughout a network. It normalizes and correlates raw data to identify security offenses, and uses an advanced Sense Analytics engine to baseline normal behavior, detect anomalies, uncover advanced threats, and remove false positives.

Waterfall claims that its Unidirectional Security Gateway is an evolutionary alternative to firewalls, protecting the safety and reliability of industrial systems in ways that firewalls cannot match. According to the company, the gateway creates an impassable, physical barrier eliminating the possibility of external online attacks, while enabling business processes to proceed as usual.

"IBM’s QRadar is a natural complement to our Unidirectional Gateway product," said Lior Frenkel, CEO & Co-Founder of Waterfall Security Solutions. "Dorad Energy is a long-time customer of Waterfall Security, who is constantly improving and innovating its services."
