The Israeli Commando Brigade and the Cypriot National Guard will hold the largest-ever land-based exercise in the history of the two armed forces.

The week-long exercise will take place in the Troodos Mountains. According to Cypriot media sources, the training will involve 400 Israeli soldiers.

The exercise will mainly focus on scenarios for occupying and liberating villages, as well as survival strategies.

Cyprus and Israel have held joint exercises before, mainly in the air and maritime theaters.

This week’s drills follow a three-day joint military exercise between Cyprus and Israel which took place March 20-22, as part of the agreement for military cooperation between the two states.
