Cellcom Wins Ministry of Defense Tender

Israel’s Ministry of Defense announced that it has chosen the proposal by the Israeli cellular operator Cellcom as the winner of the large IDF tender for cellphones. According to the announcement, the tender will dramatically decrease the cost of cellular packages for IDF soldiers and officers, and will save the defense establishment tens of millions of NIS annually. The communication package offered within the tender is the lowest in the Israeli cellular market.

“Cellcom’s selection was decided upon in the afternoon, at the end of an advanced and dynamic tender process which was conducted by the procurement manager at the Ministry of Defense. The scope of the tender is estimated at several tens of thousands of subscribers. The winning company will gradually replace Mirs, which has been providing cellular services to the IDF for the past six years,” stated the announcement by the Ministry of Defense.

The new tender is for a three-year period, with an option for extending the tender for up to seven more years, and is carried out in the framework of a dynamic internet tender.

VP and Head of the MoD’s Acquisition Bureau, Brigadier General (Res.) Shmuel Tzuker, said, “The Ministry’s selection of the company, after the advanced tender process, is the most efficient and qualitative selection for the officers and soldiers of the IDF. In fact, we’ve received the best price in the market in this tender. We’ve dramatically improved the current price.”
